Reminder: No practice tomorrow (Friday, 26 July) and other August notes

 

No Practice on Friday, 26 July:

There will be no practice on 26 July because of a youth swim meet at the BBMAC.

Pool updates:

We were informed that the pool will switch back to short course in August allowing the team to use more lanes and avoid crowding.  Thanks to everyone for their patience when having to move/share lanes and adjust their swim intervals (faster/slower) to help accommodate the practice.

CMA merchandise: 

The team may place another order for silicone caps similar to the caps available previously.  The silicon caps are more durable than latex caps and have a textured interior that help prevent the caps from slipping off your head.  Contact Jane if you are interested.

July 5th practice update and other notes for July

No Practice on Friday, 5 July:

There will be no practice on 5 July because of changes to the pool operating hours on that day.  The pool has lap swimming (short course) available from 10am to 7pm.

Pool configuration and closures:

The pool is currently scheduled to be configured for long course for every practice this month.  The pool is also scheduled to be closed on Friday, 26 July, due to a swim meet.  We will confirm the facility availability for CMA practice on 26 July later in the month.

Memorial Day swim practice and other updates for June

Memorial Day Swim Practice:

CMA will have a single, 1-hour practice on Memorial Day from 6am to 7am.  There is no 5:30am practice on Memorial Day.

La Jolla Pier to Cove Swim:

CMA Updates for May

Summer Open Water Swims:

There are a few open water swims around San Diego this summer beginning with the La Jolla Swim Club's Pier to Cove Swim on 30 June.  A link to the event is below:

The swim is ~1.5 miles beginning at the Scripps Pier and ending in La Jolla Cove.  There are separate divisions for those who want to swim with wetsuits/fins/paddles and those who do not.  A few CMA swimmers will be participating, so if you have interest, contact Jane.  

In addition, groups of CMA swimmers occasionally meet up at La Jolla Cove or Shores during the weekends beginning around May to do open water swims.  If you have interest, you can talk to Jane to see if there will be a meet-up during the weekend.

CMA Team Towels Now Available

In addition to the CMA apparel referenced in the previous post, team towels are now available for purchase for $40.  Contact Jane if you are interested.  The artwork depicted in the towels was designed by Jinny and inspired by the "glorious sunrises" over the pool at the end of practices!  Pictures of the new towels are shown below (click image to view in full resolution):

Facility: The pool is expected to be configured for long course more frequently in April as teams from out-of-town visit the facility for training.

Other: The city aquatics center is expected to be closed through August 21, so the BBMAC may appear busier with more public lap swimmers in the mornings.

No practice on Monday (19 February) President's Day

Due to a swim meet, CMA will not be able to hold practices on Monday, 19 February.

Practice on Wednesday (7 Feb) is cancelled

Practice for tomorrow, Wednesday, 7 February, has been cancelled.  We expect to have normal practice hours on Friday.

Normal practice times on Martin Luther King Day (Monday, 15 January)

CMA will have normal practice times (5:30a to 6:30a and 6a to 7a) on MLK Day (Monday, 15 January).
