Martin Luther King Day (17 Jan) Practice Time Update

Because of BBMAC facility staffing and hours, CMA practice will be 6:30am to 7:30am on Monday, 17 January (MLK Day).

Early January Practice Schedule

Below is the CMA practice schedule for the next two weeks. All short course practices will be in the big pool.  The 5:30am practice option will resume on Monday, 10 January. The workouts this week are only 6 to 7am.

Mon 1/3: 8 Short course lanes (only 6 - 7am)
Weds 1/5: 8 Short course (only 6 - 7am)
Fri: 1/7: 6 Long course (only 6 - 7am)
Mon 1/10: 6 Long course (resume 5:30am option)
Weds 1/12:6 Long course
Fri: 1/14: 6 Short course

Holiday swim schedule and other notes

(1) Workout schedule for the weeks of 20 and 27 December:

Mon 12/20: Shallow pool; 6 short course yards lanes

Wed 12/22: Main pool; 8 short course yards lanes
Fri: 12/24:  Main pool; 6 long course
Mon 12/27: Shallow pool; 6 short-course yards lanes
Wed 12/29: Shallow pool; 6 short-course yards lanes

Fri: 12/31: NO PRACTICE; Pool is closed

Note that all workouts will be 6am to 7am with no 5:30am option during these two weeks.  Contact Coach Rhonda if you have any questions.

(2) Open water swim on Christmas Eve

For those interested in open water swimming, there is a group planning to do an ocean swim on Christmas Eve at noon at Coronado's North Beach.  This is not an official CMA practice or workout.  Contact Jane if you want more details about the swim.

(3)  United States Masters Swimming membership

All CMA swimmers need to be registered with United States Masters Swimming (USMS) for 2022.  The USMS website is https://www.usms.org/join-usms/join-or-renew and a yearly membership costs $60.  USMS membership is an insurance requirement of the Brian Bent Memorial Aquatics Center (BBMAC) and Coronado Unified allowing CMA to continue to rent the pool for workouts.  Contact Coach Rhonda or Jane if you have questions about USMS membership.

Thanksgiving Week Swim Schedule

Monday (22 Nov) and Wednesday (24 Nov) practices will be from 6am to 7am only. There will be no 5:30am option. On Friday (26 Nov), practice will be from 7am to 8am only.

Veterans Day Message

CMA would like to extend its thanks to all of the veterans who have selflessly served our nation to preserve the freedoms we enjoy. Thank you for all of your contributions to our country!

USMS (United States Masters Swimming) registration reminder

This is a reminder for CMA swimmers to join USMS (United States Masters Swimming).  The website is: https://www.usms.org/join. The fee for 2022 is $60. The membership is required to satisfy insurance requirements for the team, but there are other benefits that include USMS sanctioned swim meets, a bi-monthly magazine, and discounts at sites like swimoutlet.com.

When you sign up for USMS, you can select the club to be affiliated with. If you plan to compete in swim meets, you could choose a different club besides Coronado Masters Association. That may give you flexibility to participate in relays or score points for a team since CMA does not regularly participate in meets as a team. Normal practice schedule for the week of 1 November

There was some uncertainty about lane availability to accommodate a youth swim team during the week of 1 November, but we were informed that no practice time adjustments are necessary.  We will be having the usual practice times during the week of 1 November.
